Dream Big. Work Hard. Celebrate Success!
Awesome Ocelot of the Month
Born in El Salvador, Ariana Castro lived there with her mother and extended family members until the age of ten. It was almost 3 years ago when her parents made the decision for Ariana to move to the U.S. to live with her father.
Not knowing any English, Ariana came to the United States and lived in Redwood City with her aunt. She completed the 4th grade at Hawes Elementary school and then moved to Hacienda Heights with her father. She attended Palm Elementary School for her 5th grade year, where she quickly began to master the English language. By the time she was a 6th grader at Orange Grove, Ariana was reclassified as a fluent English proficient (RFEP) student. Today, Ariana is a 7th grader earning a 3.58 GPA and enrolled in two honors classes. She is an active participant in ASB and is highly regarded by all of her teachers as a model student. Ariana's dream for college is to attend Stanford University and become a lawyer after she graduates. She is very intrigued in the type of work lawyers do.

My Personal Background
I received my Bachelor's Degree from UC San Diego, then a Master’s Degree in Business from USC, and a Master’s Degree from Claremont in Teaching. I have an adorable five-year old son and an amazing husband. I have been teaching science for about 12 years, 10 of those years at OGMS. I love to travel and hike and my favorite place in the world is Yosemite National Park.
Outside of OGMS...
...you can find me hiking the local mountains with my son and husband.
I LOVE Being an Awesome Ocelot Because...
...students embrace their “inner science nerdiness.” It is wonderful to see my students excited about something as boring as an atom! I have many bright and kind students, and I work with hilarious Ocelot teachers. What else can I ask for?
