Attendance Policy

Everyday Counts!

School attendance is one of the most important factors that impact a student's academic performance. We know you want the best education for your child and we share that interest with you. As a parent it is your responsibility to ensure your child is at school every day on time.

If your child is absent, please call the office at (626) 933-7005 or turn in a note to the office following the absence. If an absence is not called in or a note is not submitted, it will be considered an UNEXCUSED absence. Multiple absences will trigger a letter from the school district and a possible referral to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB).

Excused absences are absences for proper cause listed in the State Education Code for student illness, medical appointments, dental appointments, optical appointments, funeral services for immediate family members extending to grandparents, or quarantine.

Unexcused absences are absences that occur with the knowledge and approval of parents or guardian, but for reasons not acceptable under state law.

Truancy is an absence that is intentional and a planned violation of state attendance laws.
