Superintendent's Update- May 2022
Posted 6/6/22

Dear Hacienda La Puente Unified Community,

May was an exciting month for Hacienda La Puente Unified, as our District celebrated the end of a successful school year and highlighted student accomplishments with performing arts showcases, banquets, awards ceremonies and other end-of-the-year festivities.

Our graduating students reveled in their accomplishments during senior nights, proms, pep rallies and commencement ceremonies, while promoting students were recognized with events honoring their academic achievements.

In May, we named Orange Grove Middle School science teacher Terri Serey our District Teacher of the Year, recognizing her strengths in delivering a collaborative and hands-on experience for students in our science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics program.

We also recognized our exceptional employees and school community, celebrating School Principals Day, Classified School Employee Week, Teacher Appreciation Week and Asian American and Pacific-Islander Heritage Month.

On May 23, we kicked off summer with an extensive list of innovative programs, classes and camps, including the launch of the Youth Cinema Project and HLPUSD’s Virtual Academy.

Thank you to our Board of Education, students, teachers, staff, administrators and community members for your continued support as we focused on following safety protocols and maintaining safe learning environments throughout the school year.

Hacienda La Puente Unified remains committed to providing enriching learning opportunities for students in the summer months and I look forward to seeing our students and families when we return for the 2022-23 school year on Aug 3.

As always, we are #ProudtobeHLPUSD.

Sincerely, Dr. Alfonso Jiménez
