Hacienda La Puente Unified Holds C-STEM Professional Development Summer Training

CITY OF INDUSTRY Hacienda La Puente Unified has partnered with the University of California, Davis Computer, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (UC DAVIS C-STEM) Center to provide its fourth cohort of teachers with a 30-hour C-STEM professional development training.


The training, which ran from July 11-14, was open to all interested kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers and Teachers on Special Assignments the C-STEM curriculum under the guidance of the UC DAVIS C-STEM Center. Educators practiced hands-on integrated learning and pedagogy and learned innovative ways to integrate the curriculum into the classroom.


The development and curriculum align with state standards, teaching computer programming, computational thinking and problem-solving, aiming to support student discovery of innovative solutions, explore communication and creative expression and open their minds to C-STEM college and career pathways.


This will be the fourth year the first cohort will continue to implement C-STEM in their curriculum. The program continues to expand, now including 56 new teachers and bringing the C-STEM curriculum to Del Valle, Nelson and Sunset Elementary School to better serve students.
